Application of Outstanding Thesis Award of Graduate Student, College of Science, NCKU

  1. Objective: to encourage outstanding graduate students to engage in innovative research and publish high-quality academic works and to recognize outstanding theses.

  2. Object of Reward: 2024 fresh graduates from departments in the College of Science and recommended by their advisor and department. (For fresh graduates, passing oral examination and submitting result by July 31, 2024)

  3. Quota of Recommendation
    Ph.D. Thesis: each department can recommend a maximum of one student. Master Thesis: refer to comment #1 for criterion and quota.

  4. Application Time: defined by each department, and students to follow and apply accordingly to department office with the following materials. (Please provide one paper copy and one digital copy which combines all materials required)                                                                                                                                (1) Application form                                                                                     (2) Abstract of thesis in English and Chinese (1,000 to 1,500 words, including      motivation, objective, method of research, important conclusions, etc.)                 (3) Self-assessment form. *For doctoral applicant, a minimum of one relevant publication in Q1 of SJR.                                                                               (4) Affidavit                                                                                               (5) Thesis-related publications or awards (please specify)                               (6) One paper copy of thesis. (either in English or Chinese)                             (7) Recommendation letter of advisor                                                               

  5. Review and Selection: Conducted by each department, and please provide the list of recommended students and their application materials (both paper and digital copies) to the college office by October 7, 2024, PM5:00. Dean of the college will convene the academic committee to select the awardees.

  6. Awards Dates: College will announce the date to publicly award certificates and scholarships. Ph.D. and master thesis award scholarship are NTD 10,000 and NTD 5,000, respectively. Those who are unable to attend may ask a representative to receive the award.

  7. Awarded scholarship shall be reclaimed when the thesis violates academic ethics.

Quota of recommendation for master's thesis award per department depends on corresponding account of 2024(11 academic year) fresh graduates:
Graduates <25:1.
Graduates between 25 and 49:2.
Graduates ≥50:3.
